The Roseburg Public Library will have its one-year anniversary celebration on Thursday night.
Library Director Kris Wiley said the evening will begin with a videoconferencing session with bestselling children’s author Chris Grabenstein, whose book “Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library” is set in a newly opened library. The book was on the New York Times bestseller list for middle grade novels for 111 weeks between 2013 and 2016.
The event will include brief remarks from local officials, followed by music from the Umpqua Singers and an activity and crafts for all ages. Light refreshments will be served.
Wiley said since the Roseburg Public Library opened on December 27,2018, more than 5,000 library cards have been issued, 9,500 people have attended 255 special events and 100,000 visits have been logged.
The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call the library at 492-7051 for more information.
