A home near the South Umpqua River sustained structural and water damage during a fire Tuesday morning.
Fire Marshal Monte Bryan of the Roseburg Fire Department said personnel responded to a residence in the 100 block of Hoover Avenue just before 9:00 a.m. Bryan said crews found a single-story residential structure with smoke showing from the eaves of the home. After determining that no one was inside the residence, firefighters made an interior attack to extinguish the fire and complete overhaul.

Bryan told News Radio 1240 KQEN that a bathroom and part of the attic sustained substantial fire damage and the rest of the home had smoke damage. The displaced family included two adults and five children. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
Bryan said a fire investigator was on the scene and determined that the cause of the fire was accidental and most likely electrical in nature. Several other agencies assisted the Roseburg Fire Department at the scene.
