A 37-year old man was jailed on firearms charges following a gunshot incident on Saturday.
Information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at around 3:45 p.m. a caller on Conrad Street in Myrtle Creek reported that a gunshot came through his bedroom as he and his girlfriend were folding clothing. The report said when he stepped outside, the caller saw a man walking into the woods with a rifle.
Once arriving on the scene, the deputy learned that the suspect was Jonathan Schlenker and that he was also a felon. After talking to the suspect on the phone, the man eventually came out of the woods and gave up. He was taken into custody.  The report said the gun was found in the woods and seized as evidence.
Schlenker was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of reckless endangering, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was initially detained on $112,500 bail.
