The YMCA of Douglas County is ready to help residents who have New Year’s resolutions to get in better shape and to get healthier.
Executive Director Marisa Fink said many people often do better when they are in a group exercise situation or are able to become friends and help keep each other accountable.
Fink said the YMCA also has exercise opportunities especially designed for kids, including basketball leagues for those in first through fourth grades. Registration for those is underway and ends January 13th. Games begin later this month and run until the middle of March.
The YMCA also has CPR and first aid training. A class will be held on Saturday January 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The cost for certification is $65 or $35 for members of the YMCA.
To encourage people to become new members as the year begins, the Y has a January Membership Promotion. Those who become members this month will have the $50 joining fee waived and will also receive a Y gym bag.
Marisa Fink and Healthy Living Director Angela Marx were on Inside Douglas County Thursday on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com.
