HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE HOLDING PRESENTATION

January 2, 2020 10:00 a.m.
The Douglas County Human Trafficking Task Force will host a presentation regarding online predators later this month.
A release from the group said research has shown that 82 percent of online sex crimes against minors begin with an offender using the child’s social networking site to gain information. It said statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation indicate that more than 500,000 predators are online every day.
The presentation is titled “Teens, Trafficking and Online Predators” and will feature Detective Kevin Taggart of the Myrtle Creek Police. Taggart said that by age 14, 77 percent of teens have been contacted by a predator online.
The event will take place January 23rd at the Winston Community Center. It will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The content of the presentation may not be suitable for children under age 12.
