On the KQEN Holiday Schedule:
The Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights continues through New Year’s evening at River Forks Park west of Roseburg.
The 27th annual event is a benefit for Rotary Club’s so they can provide scholarships to high school seniors. The festival has generated over $250,000 in scholarships since it began.
Over 90 displays have around 500,000 lights on them including animated characters from Disney’s Frozen. The world’s largest Nutcracker is also part of the display. One of the organizers, Brian Prawitz said many of the displays have been moved to new locations this year to freshen up the drive-through experience. Con-vey built a new display as well.
Admission is $10 per car. The event opens nightly at 5:30 p.m. and stays open until 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday night and until 9:00 p.m. on other evenings. Find out more by going to www.uvfesstivaloflights.com.
