A Curtin woman was cited for unauthorized use of a vehicle on Tuesday. Information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said on December 20th the victim had loaned his vehicle to 40-year old Maria Walton with the understanding that she would have it back to him later that day. The victim reported that the pickup was not returned to him and that the suspect would not answer phone calls or texts.
The report said the woman returned on Tuesday night and the victim gave a deputy her likely location in the Curtin area. A deputy found the woman going between a motel room and the vehicle and detained her. A man with her was detained but released after deputies determined that he didn’t have anything to do with the crime.
Walton was cited for the UUV charge but jailed for a warrant that was out for her arrest from Clackamas County. She is detained without bail in the Douglas County Jail.
