FLOOD POTENTIAL OUTLOOK FOR SIGNIFICANT RISES ON RIVERS/STREAMS

December 18, 2019 11:45 a.m.
The National Weather Service has updated the Flood Potential Outlook and is calling for significant rises on rivers and streams in Douglas, Coos, Curry and Josephine counties.
The update said an atmospheric river will bring moderate to heavy rain to the area over the next several days, causing rivers to rise and bringing the potential for flooding. Forecasters said the most significant rises are expected on coastal rivers with the South Fork Coquille River at Myrtle Point expected to reach action stage. The location of the atmospheric rivers could shift to the north or the south as it approaches.
Watches and warnings may be issued by the National Weather Service if the situation worsens. Stay with News Radio 1240 KQEN and check www.541radio.com for updates.
