MAN JAILED FOLLOWING DISTURBANCE NEAR GARDINER

A 49-year old man was jailed following a disturbance near Gardiner last week.
Information released on Friday by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, said late Wednesday night a deputy responded to a report of the disturbance in the 11000 block of Fivemile Road. The deputy located a pickup that matched the description of the involved vehicle. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as 49-year old John Mason. The report said the suspect had what appeared to be scratch marks on his inner forearm.
The deputy contacted the female half of the incident. She reportedly had a laceration to her upper lip and redness on her face and neck. The woman claimed the man had choked her by putting his forearm around her throat.
Mason was initially arrested for strangulation, menacing and harassment. He was initially held at the Reedsport Jail before being transferred to Douglas County Corrections. He was initially held on $15,000 bail.
