A Winter Weather Advisory for the South-Central Oregon Cascades above 4,500 feet is in effect until 8:00 p.m. Friday night.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said moderate to heavy snow is forecast with 6 to 12 inches expected, and up to 15 inches above 6,000 feet. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour are anticipated above 6,000 feet, easing by late Friday afternoon.
The Advisory includes Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and portions of Highways 62, 138, 230, and 232 above 4,500 feet.
Forecasters said that travel could be very difficult with snow levels lowering to around 4,000 feet Friday afternoon and down to 3,000 feet Friday night.
Motorists should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Drivers should carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
