On the KQEN Holiday Schedule:

Handel’s Messiah will be performed this Friday night and again on Sunday, by the Roseburg Concert Chorale.

The 70th annual winter concert by the group will be conducted by Dr. Jason Heald, featuring the Umpqua Chamber Orchestra and pianist Tammy Finch Johnson.

Messiah was written by George Frederick Handel in 1741 and is one of his best-known and most successful pieces of music. Messiah will take the stage at the Church of the Nazarene in Myrtle Creek Friday night at 7:00 p.m. It will also be performed Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Jacoby Auditorium on the campus of Umpqua Community College.

Tickets are $10 but students with Student ID are admitted for free. Tickets will be available at While Away Books and at the door.

Call 496-0748 for more information.

Dr. Jason Heald talked about Messiah and the upcoming concerts on the Morning Conversation Wednesday on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com.
