DCSO SEEKING INFO ON TRANSMITTED RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

December 3, 2019 3:30 p.m.
Officials with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are seeking information on transmitted radio communications which were reported, that indicated that a woman had been shot on Monday night.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell said a man called 911 just after 5:00 p.m. and indicated he had heard a woman on a walkie talkie saying she had been shot by a man and needed medical attention. O’Dell said the woman initially said she was near Winchester Elementary then reportedly indicated she was near Winchester Apartments. No further transmissions were reported.
O’Dell said multiple emergency services were dispatched to the area and searched for the reported victim. The caller told dispatchers the woman on the walkie talkie was hysterical.
During the investigation, deputies sent a reverse 911 to residents in the area asking them to call if they heard or witnessed any type of disturbance. No additional information was received, according to O’Dell. He said ultimately law enforcement was unable to find any victim.
O’Dell said if the incident was fabricated, those involved can be held criminally liable. Those responsible could face arrest for disorderly conduct or for initiating a false report.
Anyone with information as to the identity of the female or who may have information regarding the incident is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 440-4471.
