A Coos Bay man was jailed on 16 charges after a pursuit from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell said at 2:00 p.m. a deputy attempted to pull over a sedan in Winston, but while the driver initially stopped, he then took off and fled towards Green where the vehicle struck a car at the Kelly’s Corner intersection. The report said the vehicle continued in the Green area driving recklessly and then continued back towards Winston. The sedan eventually crossed over Douglas Boulevard into the Abby’s parking lot where it crashed into a parked car.
The driver, identified as 25-year old Dylan Fritts, fled on foot but was taken into custody after a short pursuit. Fritts was allegedly in possession of heroin and admitted that the vehicle was stolen.
He was held on charges that include eluding in a vehicle and on foot, 10 counts of reckless endangering, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of heroin, and for hit and run.
Fritts was initially detained on $219,370 bail.
