The storm set to slam into southern Oregon has led to a Winter Storm Warning above 2,500 feet with a Winter Weather Advisory above 1,000 feet for parts of central Douglas County.
An Urgent Winter Weather Message from the National Weather Service said moderate to heavy snow is expected on Sexton Pass and above 2,500 feet with 6 to 12 inches of snow in the forecast. Above 1,000 feet and below 2,500 feet, 1 to 5 inches of snow is expected. Wind gusts in the 40 to 60 mile per hour range are possible in some locations.
Forecasters said travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions. Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fullu charged phone with them.
The Winter Storm Warning is in place from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
