END CHILD MARRIAGE DISPLAY CONCLUDES TUESDAY

November 26, 2019 3:45 a.m.
The End Child Marriage Display presented by the Zonta Club of Roseburg concludes on Tuesday at the Roseburg Public Library.
As part of its centennial celebration and continuing effort to empower women, the club set up the display. Information from Zonta said child marriages are not just a problem in other countries, they also occur in the U.S. where 25 states don’t have a minimum age for marriage. Only one state prohibits marriage until age 18. Regionally, Alaska had girls as young as 12 marry, Idaho and Washington had marriages at age 13, and Oregon at age 16.
The Roseburg Public Library is open Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information about the display or about Zonta, go to www.zontaroseburg.org.
