The Roseburg City Council will consider a fee adjustment for the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center and the purchase of a striping machine at its meeting Monday night.
The council agenda includes a request to allow the sports organization to increase the fees it charges to members by 4 percent. Under its agreement with the City, any change in fees has to be approved by the council. The Parks Commission recommended that the council approve the request at its meeting earlier this month.
Last month the council approved the use of an interstate cooperative purchasing agreement to purchase a new striping machine. Most of the money needed would come from federal Surface Transportation funds which reside at the Oregon Department of Transportation until the City requests them for an identified project. Typically, the City will “fund exchange” the allocations at 94 cents per dollar to convert the money to state funding as opposed to federal funding. Once converted the money can be used to design and/or construct improvements to purchase equipment used for highway purposes. Staff is asking councilors to convert nearly $213,000 in federal funds to $200,000 in state funds to put towards the purchase of the machine.
The council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers.
