The Art Galley at Umpqua Community College presents an exhibit titled “Monsterbet” through December 4th.
It is a series of paintings by California artist Heidi Brueckner. The exhibit is a figurative series based on a traditional format of children’s alphabet rhymes. Information from UCC says each letter stands for an invented monster that has a particular quirk, sometimes silly and fanciful while simultaneously touching on themes of human vice, morality and fear.
Brueckner is a Professor of Art at West Valley College in Saratoga, California, where she teaches painting, drawing and design.
“Monsterbet” is on display through December 4th at the Art Gallery in the Whipple Fine Arts Center, which is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
