HIGHWAY 99 NOW OPEN THROUGH WINCHESTER

November 22, 2019 9;30 a.m.
Old Highway 99 North, also known as Northeast Stephens Street, is now open to through traffic in the Winchester area.
An update from Douglas County Public Works said the North Bridge of the Winchester Safety Improvement Project, located between Pioneer Road and Page Road, where Highway 99 North crosses Davis Creek, was opened on Thursday morning and all detours have been removed along the roadway.
The update said although both bridges have been completed, there is still work to be done. The project is still on track to be substantially completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. There could possibly be some work to finish, early next year. Warning signs and delineators will continue to notify motorists of any future lane closures or delays.
The Pedestrian and Safety Improvement Project includes the construction of bike lanes along both sides of the roadway plus gutter and storm sewer improvements. A sidewalk is being added along the eastern side of the roadway, as are transit bus pull-outs.
