Elkton School District had an approximately 80-minute lock-out on Wednesday.
Information from Superintendent Andy Boe said at about 1:00 p.m. officials received a phone call from law enforcement concerning a person of interest that they were trying to locate. Boe told News Radio 1240 KQEN that “out of an abundance of caution” they chose to initiate the lock-out. Boe said it applied to both the district’s grade school and high school, which are about one-quarter of a mile apart. Under a lock-out no one was allowed in or out of the school. The perimeter was secured and students continued classes as normal.
Boe said at about 2:20 p.m. they received assurance from law enforcement that the lock-out could be lifted.
