SAVING GRACE IS HOPPING WITH BUNNIES

November 18, 2019 10:15 a.m.
Due to an unexpected intake of two-dozen bunnies, Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center is putting out a call for bunny fosters, bunny supplies, and bunny adopters.
Executive Director Wendy Kang said the non-profit got an urgent call for help from a Roseburg woman recently. Kang said the woman had done a good job caring for the animals until her own health began to decline. Kang said the woman realized she could no longer care for the rabbits.
All 24 of the rabbits are now in the care of Saving Grace. They range in age from newborn to 3 years old. The mama rabbits and newborn babies have been placed in foster care until the babies are old enough to be spayed or neutered and offered for adoption. Kang said the rest of the animals are being spayed and neutered now and very soon will be available for adoption. All the rabbits appear to be in good health.
Anyone who can provide a permanent, loving home is eligible to adopt one or more of the rabbits. Due to the unique circumstances, Saving Grace is waiving the $20 fee for teachers that adopt one of the rabbits as a classroom pet. Kang said they often send bunnies to schools with volunteers. She said the animals are intelligent, social and playful pets, and can be litter-box trained.
Rabbit lovers than cannot adopt now, can still help out the rabbits with a donation of rabbit food, grass hay, or the gift of their time. Kang said helping with the rabbits would be a great way to try volunteering at Saving Grace.
Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center is now open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m. To find out more go to www.savinggrace.info.
