A Drain man is in critical condition at last check following an accident Wednesday afternoon in the 3800 block of Eagle Valley Road.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the wreck happened at about 12:45 p.m. North Douglas Fire and EMS responded before a deputy could arrive and transported the driver, 31-year old Joseph Bender, for several injuries. The report said the driver did not know what had happened. The deputy said it appears the vehicle left the roadway headed south for an unknown reason and collided with a tree, uprooting it. The tree landed on the railroad tracks and was removed by a rail road employee.
Bender was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.
