Two men were jailed for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Wednesday morning.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday afternoon a deputy contacted two people at Loves Travel Stop in Green. The men said they were towing a vehicle back to California after it broke down on the coast. They said their truck could not take the weight of the vehicle being towed and that they had gotten permission to leave it at Loves. When they came back the vehicle was gone and employees said it had been taken by a red truck.
The vehicle was located early Wednesday near the Ingram facility on Speedway Road, along with a red pickup. 18-year old Peter Homan and 48-year old William Spann were contacted and blamed each other for the vehicle’s theft. Both were initially detained on $50,000 bail.
