The 244th birthday of the United States Marine Corp is Sunday, but a local event will commemorate the birthday on Friday.
A ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Roseburg VA Health Care System. The celebration will feature the annual Commandant of the Marine Corps Birthday Message, a birthday video, a guest speaker, a cake cutting ceremony and the traditional passing of a slice of cake from the oldest to the youngest Marine.
Before the ceremony, guests will see motivational Marine Crops videos and have the chance to share stories, camaraderie and more. Guests may arrive starting at 2:00 p.m.
