The deadline is near for returning ballots in a Special Election being held in two areas of Douglas County.
Voters in the Tenmile Rural Fire District and in the City of Reedsport have questions before them.
In the fire district. voters are deciding whether to pass a proposed local option levy to hire a fulltime Fire Chief/Paramedic. If approved, property owners will pay 75 cents per $1,000 in assessed value for five years beginning in the 2020/2021 fiscal year.
Voters in Reedsport are considering a proposed amendment to the City Charter that would remove the restriction on utility rate adjustments not exceeding 3 percent annually.
Its too late to mail ballots in so they must be taken to the Clerk’s Office in the Douglas County Courthouse or to drop boxes at Winston City Hall, the Douglas County Annex in Reedsport or in the parking lot just east of the Roseburg Public Library.
Ballots are due in by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.
