One person was hurt and one went to jail following a rollover accident on Interstate Five on Monday afternoon.
Information from Oregon State Police said just before 4:30 p.m. a trooper was dispatched to the wreck in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Curtin exit.
A sedan was on its top on the right shoulder of the freeway just north of the on-ramp to the freeway. The report said that vehicle had been rear ended by another vehicle while driving in the fast lane. Multiple witnesses said the second vehicle was racing with a motorcycle just prior to the crash. Those witnesses estimated the speed of the second vehicle to be in excess of 90 miles per hour when it crashed into the sedan.
The driver of the vehicle hit, a 21-year old woman, was taken to Cottage Grove Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, a 20-year old man from Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail where he was charged with reckless driving and reckless endangering of another person. The man is not listed on the jail website.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
