A Gold Hill woman died in a log truck crash on Friday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were contacted by a representative of Gyppo Logging of Grants Pass. The man said he had been advised by some hunters of a log truck crash two miles up Russell Creek in the Azalea area. He said he found one of his trucks crashed about two miles down the hill from the landing.
The report said a deputy responded and found the truck off the side of the road, and into a tree. The load of logs caused significant damage to the vehicle and the driver was trapped inside, deceased.
The report said the road had a steep, winding grade in that section. It is unknown exactly what caused the driver to go off the road.
The victim was identified as 51-year old Nanette Patton.
