CHI Mercy Health’s Robotics Team has announced the winner of their student “Name the Robot” contest.
They selected the name “Merci”, which is French for “thank you”. It was suggested by Halle Goodman, a 4th grader at Hucrest Elementary. Halle received a $50 gift card and a meet and greet with the Robot and Robotic surgery team.

A release from Mercy said the Robotics program offers advanced robot-assisted technology with many benefits. It said the technology enhances surgeons’ ability to see inside the body and provides greater range of motion than the human hand. It also speeds patient recovery through smaller incisions, according to the release.
Locally, patients are able to have robotic surgery for certain types of hernias and gynecologic issues and new procedures will be added as the programs continue to expand, according to the release.
