MAN JAILED FOR STOLEN VEHICLE AND DRUGS

A transient was jailed on stolen vehicle and drug charges by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon.
A deputy said while assisting with a motor vehicle crash on highway 99, he saw a sedan drive through the accident scene at a high rate of speed. He recognized the vehicle as a suspect vehicle from a previous open case and stopped the car at the intersection of Highway 99 South and Tipton Road.
21-year old Sean Brown and a passenger were detained. A small amount of heroin was allegedly found in Brown’s possession. Drug paraphernalia was located as well according to the report.
The report said that during the stop a passerby reported they saw the vehicle involved in a theft within the past hour. The potential victim was contacted and reported that Brown had stolen several bags of cans and bottles from their front porch. Those bags were found in the stolen vehicle. The report said Brown admitted to the theft and to stealing the vehicle two nights earlier.
Brown was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of heroin and for third degree theft. After arraignment he remains detained on $110,000 bail. The passenger was not taken to jail.
