An Ohio man is behind bars after allegedly being found with over 600 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle he was driving.
Information from Oregon State Police said Wednesday afternoon at around 3:00 p.m. a trooper stopped a pickup for a traffic violation, on Highway 140E about four miles from Bonanza, in Klamath County. During the stop, the trooper obtained probable cause to search the vehicle. That search turned up 632.5 pounds of marijuana and 36.8 pounds of butane honey oil extract.
The driver was identified as 41-year old Dustin Schoenhofer of Ohio. Investigators learned that both the marijuana and the BHO extract was destined for Ohio. Schoenhofer was lodged in the Klamath County Jail on charges of exporting marijuana, exporting extract, and for distribution and possession of controlled substances, marijuana and extract.
The release said the OSP Domestic Highway Enforcement team routinely conducts narcotic trafficking saturations throughout the state. Their mission is to identify and disrupt all criminal conduct on Oregon highways and identify elements of drug trafficking organizations for further investigation and dismantling in cooperation with numerous enforcement agencies, both in Oregon and in several other locations in the United States.
