Fish Food Pantry will have its fall community food drive on Saturday.
The event will be held at Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Safeway and Sherm’s Thunderbird. A release from FISH said volunteers will be collecting donated food at all four stores from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A variety of items are needed to help those using the pantry. Right now, it’s in particular need of baby food, boxed cereal, canned fruit, canned soup, and canned tuna and meat. Donations of canned vegetables, flour and baking mix, peanut butter, condiments and toiletries are also needed. Cash is accepted at the food drive as well.
The FISH Food Pantry provides emergency food parcels to over 900 households per month, which includes over 3,000 people. 30 percent of those are children. The typical household seeking assistance visits the pantry 3 or 4 times a year.
