The League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley will present a historic slideshow called “Women’s Suffrage Centennial Celebration” in the South Umpqua Room of the Roseburg Public Library on Tuesday night.
Organizers said those attending can learn about the women’s suffrage movement as the local group launches a series of community events designed to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the 1920 passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The release from the league said American women struggled and organized for years to achieve recognition of their right to vote nationally.
The free presentation will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 672-1914 for more information.
