A Sutherlin man was jailed for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Monday night.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said at about 5:30 p.m. 62-year old Richard Collier Junior took his roommate’s vehicle without permission and drove it to liquor store at the corner of Central and Calapooia. Sorenson said the vehicle’s owner called police. The vehicle was found leaving the store parking lot.
Collier was also cited for DUII after his breath sample was .14 BAC. That’s nearly twice the legal limit. Collier was initially detained on $60,000 bail.
