FALL FOOD DRIVE FOR FISH ON SATURDAY

October 22, 2019 3:40 a.m.
The fall community food drive for the FISH Food Pantry will be this Saturday at four local grocery stores.
Volunteers will be collecting food at Sherm’s Thunderbird, Fred Meyer, Safeway, and Albertsons from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A variety of donated food items are needed to enhance the options of those using the FISH Food Pantry. Right now, the pantry is in particular need of baby food, boxed cereal, canned fruit, canned soup, canned tuna and meat. Donations of canned vegetables, flour and baking mix, peanut butter, condiments and toiletries are also needed. Cash donations to The FISH of Roseburg will also be accepted.
Requests for emergency food assistance from low-income families in Douglas County remains high. The pantry provides emergency food parcels to over 900 households per month, which includes over 3,000 people. About 30 percent of those are children. The typical household seeking emergency food assistance from FISH will visit the pantry 3 to 4 times per year.
