MAN JAILED AFTER POLICE CHASE

October 17, 2019 10:00 a.m.
A Grants Pass man was jailed after a police chase on Thursday morning.
Information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 11:00 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Speedway Road. The report said the vehicle kept going at slow speeds for about a mile before it finally stopped. The deputy said he believed the only reason the driver stopped was because the clutch went out in the car.
38-year old Scott Ireys said he did not have a reason for trying to elude the deputy. However, he said the man did allegedly have a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession.
He was charged with attempting to elude and for having the meth. He was initially detained on $100,000 bail.
