The League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley will present a historic slideshow, titled “Women’s Suffrage Centennial Celebration” on Tuesday October 22nd at the Roseburg Public Library.
A release from the group said those attending can learn about the women’s suffrage movement at the first of what will be a series of community events designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The release said American women struggled and organized for years to achieve recognition of their right to vote nationally. The League is seeking to determine if other groups are planning similar celebrations as well.
The presentation is free and will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the library’s South Umpqua Room.
