Officials with the Sutherlin School District will hold two listening sessions this month to receive feedback about the district and how future funding from the Student Success Act should be used.
Superintendent Terry Prestianni will host the sessions:
*Wednesday October 16th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sutherlin High School
*Wednesday October 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sutherlin East Primary School.
Prestianni said the Student Success Act is a huge turning point in public education in Oregon, and will have a major impact for the Sutherlin School District for years to come.
Prestianni said “our community is already growing, so the funding we are receiving from the Student Success Act is coming at the perfect time”. He said it will affect the students, along with all of Sutherlin, as it will enhance education which “will help our youth become great citizens in our community”.
A release from the district said school districts are required to apply for funding available through the Student Success Act and must engage their community in a needs assessment process prior to the application process. Funding from the Student Investment Account can be used for reducing class size, increasing instructional time, addressing health and safety needs and ensuring a well-rounded education.
Free pizza will be served to all those who attend the meetings. They are open to students, families and community members. Call the Sutherlin School District for more information.
