The Roseburg High School Marching Ensemble will travel to its second of three fall competitions this Saturday.
The 26th annual Pride of the Northwest Competition will take place at Grants Pass High School. Band Director Branden Hansen said RHS will compete in the preliminary round at 2:40 p.m. with a dozen other marching bands from around the state. They will then be seeded for finals which will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Hansen said the students have been working very hard getting ready for the competition. Preparation began with a 2-week band camp in mid-August at Fremont Middle School and has continued at RHS 3 times weekly, including performing at halftime of the home football games. Hansen said this is the closest of the three competitions to Roseburg.
The event will run from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Spectator tickets are $15 for adults for all-day general admission. There are discounts for students and senior citizens.
