A Roseburg man was jailed after a high-speed pursuit in the Oakland area Monday night.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 8:00 p.m. a deputy saw a vehicle driven by 50-year old Branden Mohr leaving a location in the 800 block of John Long Road. After following it onto Interstate Five and catching up to the vehicle, the report said Mohr quickly exited to the shoulder of the freeway, without signaling. The deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop at that point. The deputy walked to the passenger window of the vehicle, and the driver started revving the engine in short bursts. After the deputy motioned to the passenger to put the window down or open the door, Mohr accelerated back onto the freeway and a pursuit ensued.
Mohr continued on the freeway at speeds up to 105 miles per hour. Mohr reportedly exited at Metz Hill where he disregarded a stop sign. The vehicle continued to Green Valley and headed towards Sutherlin. A Sutherlin unit was able to spike strip the front right tire of the car at the intersection with Rochester Bridge. Mohr continued on Green Valley towards Oakland at a speed of around 20 mile per hour. He turned onto Manning, which is a dead end road, and came to a stop.
Both the driver and the passenger, 24-year old Sequoia Meline, were detained without further incident.
The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen. The report said several items of drug paraphernalia and approximately six grams of meth were found stashed throughout the vehicle.
Mohr was charged with attempting to elude in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangering, unlawful possession of meth, driving while suspended, and for a warrant that was out for his arrest. He was jailed without bail.
Meline was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and for a warrant. He was released from custody on Tuesday.
