A Roseburg man who ran from law enforcement officers Tuesday and is considered “armed and dangerous” is still at large and wanted by the Winston Police Department.
A joint release from the Winston PD and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said 32-yearold Michael Cordz is wanted in connection with the burglary of his ex-girlfriend’s residence. Cordz has been making threats towards the woman and is believed to be armed.
Sergeant Mike Miller of Winston Police and Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 10:55 a.m. deputies were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 5500 block of Roberts Creek Road. Deputies, along with Winston officers responded to the area and determined that the vehicle belonged to Cordz. The release said the man was in the vehicle and fled from officers.
The release said deputies activated a reverse 911 system to notify area residents who were asked to “shelter in place” and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
Despite an extensive search of the area by multiple law enforcement officers, Cordz was unable to be found. Deputies did locate several firearms which were loaded.
Winston Police Chief Brandon Sarti said he wants the public to be aware of this situation and report any suspicious activity immediately. He said if Cordz is seen, residents should not approach him but should call 911.
Cordz is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 255 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has several tattoos which include a rose and microphones on his chest and a spiderweb on his elbow.
This is the second time the man has evaded capture.
Monday night Winston Police along with deputies from DCSO went to the area of Pintail and Quail Court in Winston because Cordz was reported to be in a house on Quail Court and was armed and dangerous. DCSO’s Tactical Response Team was called out to search the house but the man was not located inside. Cordz is wanted for burglary, trespass, theft, and criminal mischief.
