Wednesday is Walk and Bike to School Day and in Douglas County the Blue Zones Project Umpqua is working with a number of schools to have special events.
In the Roseburg School District, Eastwood, Fir Grove, Fullerton IV, Green, Hucrest and Sunnyslope schools will have adults guiding groups of kids as they walk to school from a specific bus route. Due to its location, Melrose Elementary will have a walking parade on the school’s track in the afternoon.
Most morning events will begin at around 8:30 a.m. Drivers near these schools should be alert for large groups of kids walking and biking.
