BOARD SCHEDULED TO MAKE INTERIM CLERK APPOINTMENT ON WEDNESDAY

October 1, 2019 11:00 a.m.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to appoint an Interim County Clerk on Wednesday.
County Clerk Patricia Hitt retired effective Monday, fifteen months before her term was scheduled to end. Last week the Board conducted interviews with Rosemarie Wess, Andrew Taylor and Daniel Loomis, the three people who applied for the interim position. Wess and Taylor already work in the Clerk’s office while Loomis is employed by the Umpqua Economic Development Partnership.
The person selected for the interim position will serve until the end of 2020.
Douglas County voters will select the next elected clerk in the 2020 election cycle. That person will take office at the start of 2021. Only Loomis has applied for the permanent job so far.
The Interim County Clerk will be sworn-in Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in room 216 of the courthouse.
