EVENING COMMUNITY LISTENING SESSIONS SCHEDULED

Roseburg Public Schools will host two evening community listening sessions next month to receive input about the district, as well as how potential funding from the Student Success Act should be prioritized.
Superintendent Jared Cordon will host the sessions:
*Thursday October 3rd at the Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley on Northeast Cedar Street in Roseburg.
*Tuesday October 8th at Rose School on Southeast Roberts Avenue.
The meetings are open to students, families and community members interested in providing input about the district. Dinner will be served by the RPS Nutrition Services Department.
Free bus transportation for both events will be available. Buses will arrive at their destinations by 5:45 p.m. and begin return routes at 8:00 p.m.
*The north bus will pick up residents at Winchester Elementary School at 5:00 p.m. then pick up at Saddle Butte Mobile Manor at 5:15 p.m. before picking up people at Jo Lane Middle School at 5:30 p.m.
*The central bus will pick up at Fullerton IV Elementary at 5:00 p.m., at Fremont Middle School at 5:15 p.m. and at Roseburg High at 5:30 p.m.
*The south bus will pick up on Emil’s Way at 5:00 p.m., at Green Elementary at 5:15 p.m. and at the Roseburg Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
A release from RPS said school districts are required to apply for funding available through the Student Success Act and must engage in a community needs assessment process prior to the application process. Funding from this account can be used for reducing class size, increasing instructional time, addressing health and safety needs and ensuring a well-rounded education.
