The deadline is nearing for students to take part in the Voice of Democracy Competition.
The program has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ premier scholarship program since 1947, according to organizers. Each year more than 40,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is “What Makes America Great”.
For more information contact the local Patrick W. Kelley VFW Post 2468 at 672-9716 for more information. The deadline for entering locally is October 1st.
