To keep consistent with its partner agencies, Douglas County Fire District No. 2 will begin issuing burn permits free of charge for backyard debris burning within its service area.
Those permits will require an onsite inspection from a representative of DCFD No. 2, prior to being issued.
The Fire District No. 2 release said burn permits will only be issued for small debris piles consisting of yard debris only. No permits will be issued for burn barrels or industrial logging slash. As always, the burning of materials suck as garbage, tires, plastic, rubber or any other material that normally emits dense smoke and/or noxious odors are and always will be prohibited.
An adult must be present the entire time a burn is taking place and the burn must be completely extinguished before leaving the area. Permits are issued to property owners only, not to tenants or renters. For complete information or to request a burn permit from DCFD No.2 call 673-5503 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or stop by any fire station in the district.
People found to be burning prohibited materials may be issued a citation or may be subject to further fines from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality
