TRANSIENT SOUGHT AFTER ELUDING DEPUTY

A transient is being sought after he eluded a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Monday night.
Undersheriff Jeff Frieze said at 6:00 p.m. a deputy passed an older model pickup in the 5000 block of Northeast Stephens.  The deputy said the driver looked like someone that had a warrant for his arrest. The deputy spun his vehicle around while the suspect vehicle allegedly went through a stop sign and sped away headed northbound on Stephens.
The deputy tried to stop the pickup but the driver continued out to the Melrose area. The report said the deputy was able to get close enough to verify that the driver was 33-year old Randy Lane. Lane eventually went down a dirt driveway that turned into a 4×4 road and was able to get away from the deputy.
