Sutherlin Police are still seeking a man who eluded them in a chase on Thursday night.
Captain Kurt Sorensen said at about 9:40 p.m. officers attempted to stop a gray Ford pickup at the corner of Waite Street and South Side Road. The driver was believed to be 43-year old Gregory Ferguson of Cottage Grove and officers knew he had a felony warrant for his arrest.
Sorenson said officers chased the pickup into Oakland and north on Interstate Five toward Ferguson’s residence. Sorensen said officers eventually terminated the pursuit. He said during these “highly stressful incidents”, officers take the safety of the offender, bystanders, and themselves into consideration and said several factors in the pursuit were well thought-out.
Sorensen said the incident remains under investigation.
