A car was driven all the way into a Roseburg restaurant on Wednesday causing damage.
A report from the Roseburg Police Department said at 3:15 p.m. the 90-year old male driver accidently accelerated while parking his vehicle in front of Blac-N-Bleu, at the corner of Garden Valley and Kline. The car went through the glass wall of the restaurant, injuring three customers with minor cuts and abrasions, in addition to causing incidental damage to another parked vehicle. It stopped 20 feet into the restaurant according to an initial report.
The driver was not hurt in the accident and did not display any signs of impairment. An officer on the scene told the News Review, the driver’s recent foot surgery was a contributing factor in the wreck as it caused him to be unable to negotiate from the gas pedal to the brake. The officer said the vehicle hopped the curb while the driver’s foot was stuck on the gas.
A contractor’s crew was seen cleaning up the debris within a couple of hours and the restaurant reopened on Thursday.
The Wednesday accident follows several others in recent months in Roseburg, where vehicles have crashed into buildings resulting in damage.
