September is National Suicide Prevention Month and Adapt is offering community suicide prevention trainings in Roseburg and Glendale.
The training is called QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. A release from Adapt said those are 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Participants learn the myths and facts related to suicide, warning signs of suicide, how to ask the right questions, how to persuade someone in crisis to seek help, and how to refer them to the various resources that are available. The training is presented by Paige Hosford, Prevention Specialist with Adapt and by Adam Jones, Older Adult Behavioral Specialist with Compass Behavioral Health.
QPR trainings will be held Wednesday September 25th at the Glendale Special People’s Depot at 6:00 p.m. and Friday September 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Roseburg Public Library.
The event is free. Go to www.QPR-Douglas.eventbrite.com to register.
Paige Hosford and Adam Jones talked about the issue of suicide on Inside Douglas County Tuesday on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com.
