FIRE DANGER MOVES TO MODERATE ON DFPA PROTECTED LANDS

September 8, 2019 6:15 a.m.
The recent change to cooler, wet conditions throughout the Douglas District has prompted the Douglas Forest Protective Association to lower the fire danger to moderate on all DFPA protected lands.
Kyle Reed of DFPA said the industrial fire precaution level remains at IFPL II.
Reed said despite the cooler conditions, fire season remains in effect and all backyard debris burning is prohibited. DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions also remain in place to help prevent human caused fires. During moderate fire danger, these activities are prohibited between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
*The use of power saws for non-industrial purposes.
*The cutting, grinding, or welding of metal for non-industrial purposes.
*The cutting, trimming, or mowing of dead or dry grass. The mowing of green lawns and the culture or harvest of agricultural crops are both exempt from this requirement.
*The use of power-driven machinery not specifically mentioned in DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions that are used on private property for non-industrial improvements or developments.
Reed said all other fire prevention measures set under DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions remains in effect and are unchanged. Additional fire restrictions or closures may be in place through private landowners or public land management agencies on the lands they own or manage.
