A 20-year old man was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and third- degree escape on Thursday.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said their office responded to the Apple Peddler restaurant for the report of a stolen SUV at around 6:30 a.m. Sorenson said a customer had parked their vehicle while eating breakfast, but left the key in it. They came out to find the SUV gone.
Sorenson said the vehicle was found on Shakemill Road near North Bank Road in Wilbur around 7:20 a.m. A few minutes later Devin Goodman was spotted walking in the area and was contacted by police who determined that he was the one that had taken the SUV. During his arrest, he reportedly attempted to run but was detained after a short foot pursuit.
Goodman was initially detained on $56,250 bail.
